The future with L2L.
With this scheme up and running, L2L members will be able to enjoy their day knowing that their bike is properly secured.

L2L members will be able to travel miles to another town or city knowing that they will be able to lock their bikes together with fellow members.

L2L members will be able to go to events or race meetings alone knowing that when they get there they will be able to secure their bike to other L2L member’s bikes.

L2L members living on the same street will be able to secure their bikes together for added security.

Why has it been set up
Recent figures show an alarming rise is motorcycle thefts around Britain. Well-organised criminals have realised that bikers often can’t find anything to secure their bike or scooter to and have to leave their bikes with their chain or wire lock merely wrapped around the wheel to prevent it from being driven away.

The problem with this.
The criminals simply drive a large van up to the motorcycle. They then slide scaffold poles through the wheels and lift the bike into their van. This can take as little as TWENTY SECONDS making it very difficult for the police to find witnesses – which may be why only sixteen percent of stolen bikes are recovered.

The L2L scheme prevents this from happening by simply allowing its members to form a daisy chain of interlocked bikes. It only takes 2 bikes to be locked together to prevent this type of theft.

A few riders already practise this form of security but amongst friends and acquaintances. The problem with locking your bike or scooter to a stranger’s lock is that it encroaches into personal privacy and raises issues regarding personal space, consent, liability, etc. L2L provides a scheme that overcomes this. The scheme provides riders with free choice because although we at Lockit2me feel that interlocking is the solution to motorcycle and scooter theft, not everyone will want a stranger’s bike locked to their bike. The membership disc is the equivalent to having the bike owner’s written permission to secure your locks together. As only the locks are linked, any rider is free to unlock and leave at any time. By joining L2L, each member also agrees to abide by a written code of conduct (terms and conditions).

You Know it makes sense
L2L has to be one of the most cost effective security and crime prevention schemes available to today’s motorcycle and scooter riders. Six hundred bikes are stolen every month to the value of £3 million according to a report released by the National Criminal Intelligence Service. Some are rung, raced or exported, but the majority are split for spares as the black market for this is absolutely thriving. It is not hard to estimate how many of these thefts involve organised gangs lifting bikes complete with locks, alarms, and immobilisers into a van in less than half a minute before driving away. The L2L scheme makes this impossible for the thieves, as it would involve lifting a whole chain of bikes that couldn’t possibly fit into a van.
